Phase 1 in reopening Florida: Safe, Smart, Step-by-Step plan for Florida's recovery
Effective Monday, at 12:01 a.m. on May 4, 2020.
The order stated that data collected by the Florida Department of Health indicates the State has achieved several critical benchmarks in flattening the curve, including a downward trajectory of hospital visits for influenza-like illness and COVID-19-like syndromic cases, a decrease in percent positive test results, and a significant increase in hospital capacity since March 1, 2020.

It is perplexing to consider what a difference sixty days can make. Just eight weeks ago, we welcomed springtime with plans of Easter, spring games, and leisurely activities that embody our area. Mission trips, high school proms and spring break vacations were being planned. The economy was growing, business seemed good and preparation for standardized testing in schools was a key concern for parents, students and educators.

The question Americans are asking, “Why are the store shelves empty if there are no shortages?” It was reported that at one of the dollar stores in Columbia County that when the truck carrying fresh supplies of toilet paper pulled in, customers practically mobbed the driver in the parking lot. People are fighting over toilet paper. When you walk into a store today, signs are all over, “limit two” or “limit one.” What is going on?

The ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic are ever changing and far reaching to all walks of life on our planet. The hardest hit by the social distancing and economic shut-down seem to be the developed nations where people are used to going to work everyday, used to social gatherings and not used to not knowing if their livelihood is ever going to be the same again. For many, stress levels are up and bank accounts are low, although stimulus checks (economic impact payments) should begin to be deposited this week.

LCPD: Attending Religious Services
There appears to be some confusion about the Governor’s Executive Order (EO) 20-91 and City Ordinance #2020-2146 and its application within the City of Lake City as it relates to “attending religious services conducted in churches, synagogues and houses of worship”.
