RABIES ALERT FOR LIVE OAK

Live Oak, Fla., – 

Live Oak, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Suwannee County issued a rabies alert for the City of Live Oak from US 90 to the North; from White Avenue to the East; from Helvenston Street to the South; and Ohio Avenue to the West. This is in response to a confirmed case of rabies in a cat.

Columbia County Public Works is Prepared for Nicole

 

LAKE CITY, FLA., – (Columbia County, FL) The Columbia County Public Works department is preparing for Tropical Storm Nicole which is expected to be a Category 1 hurricane later today. Given forecasts predict Columbia County will receive 2- 4 inches of rain and possible wind gusts up to 40-50 mph, Public Works has activated its pre-storm response efforts.

Governor Ron DeSantis Declares November 7, First Annual Victims of Communism Day 

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a proclamation declaring November 7 as the first annual Victims of Communism Day in Florida. Florida is home to millions of individuals who came here seeking freedom from countries controlled by Communist governments, including Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. To honor the memories and sacrifices of those who suffered under these despotic regimes the Legislature passed and Governor DeSantis signed HB 395 to establish a yearly day during which students in Florida’s schools will learn about the atrocities committed by Communist regimes and the more than 100 million people who were persecuted and lost their lives in Communist countries.
