Submitted - High Springs BMX will be hosting the finals for the USABMX DK Gold Cup Southeast Championship Series on September 23-25, 2022.

This is the first time the championship race has been held in Florida. The races, held on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, will have over 700 riders from across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Participants range from new beginners to elite level professional racers; boys and girls ages 2 to 65.

The races start Saturday at 10:30am with the balance bike races. These balance bike races feature toddlers as young as 18 months and up to 5 years using a balance/push bike to race for trophies given out at a podium ceremony. From there the program moves on to the professional athletes and over 700 amateurs looking to earn a covered Gold Cup plate for a top 3 overall finish. In an hour, you can see a whole range of ages and skill levels race from the top of the 10 foot starting hill, over the jumps as high as 8 feet and as long as 34 feet and around the steep banked turns. After 2 heats, the best finishers in their age and proficiency will move on to the qualifiers. As the racing enters the semifinals the excitement builds as racers get one lap, one chance to finish in the top 4 and make the main event. Main events will start at approximately 3pm on Saturday. Sunday’s events start at 8:00 am with the same program of racers and will end with main events around 1pm. Anyone with a current USABMX membership can compete in the event.

BMX bicycle racing is a family affair, with whole families attending to support and cheer on their rider. There are even whole families who race, mom, dad and the kids.

For anyone who wants to come and watch the excitement parking is $10 per day and admission for spectators is free. There will be food and drink available for sale.
