Suwannee I-10 crash leaves Gainesville infant in critical condition

On Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 1:05 p.m. on Interstate 10 around mile marker 277, a 2017 Dodge Charger, driver still being determined, according to a report from FHP Trooper Bates, was traveling east on I-10. In the vehicle were Walter George, 22, Katira Sanders, 19, and infant Kason George, all of Gainesville.

According to the FHP report, Jeffrey Kromrey, 62, of Tampa, was traveling along I-10 in the same direction in a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The two vehicles collided causing the Charger to overturn into the ditch. The infant along with one other occupant, were air lifted to UF Health Shands in Gainesville. The third occupant was transported by ground to UF Health Shands in Gainesville. Kromrey, according to the report, was not injured in the crash.

The crash – along with the positive identity of the driver of the Charger – is currently being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol.
