The murder suspect, Deron Matthews, turned himself in to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office yesterday afternoon without incident.  There were no statements made and he was arrested and is now incarcerated at the Columbia County Detention Facility.

Lake City, Fl., – According to a press release this afternoon from the Lake City Police Department, on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at approximately 2:30pm the Lake City Police Department responded to 275 NE Fronie St in Lake City regarding a shooting. LCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and determined that Curtis Myers, age 25, was shot by a male from a passing vehicle. Myers was transported to Shands Lake Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his wounds.

The findings of the investigation have led to the identification of the shooter as Deron Matthews (2/24/89), and the issuance of a Homicide Warrant for his arrest. LCPD is currently seeking any information on Matthew’s whereabouts. He is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous, and anyone in contact with Matthews should contact 9-1-1 immediately and not attempt to make contact.
