Columbia County Tax Collector Ronnie Brannon Receives State Award for Excellence
Lake City, Fla., – Ronnie Brannon, Tax Collector for Columbia County, has again for another year earned a special designation for excellence in the field of financial operations. The Tax Collector’s financial records, practices and use of technology are rigorously review by a judging panel in consideration for this honor.
“This award is one of the highest honors the Florida Tax Collector’s Association awards a local Tax Collector,” said Florida Tax Collectors, Inc. (“FTCA”) Past-President Eric Zwayer of Highlands County. “The judging process involved for consideration of this award is arduous and includes a comprehensive review of the financial functions of the Tax Collector’s Office. I am incredibly pleased to say that Mr. Brannon has earned the designation.”
A five person judging panel made up of government financial executives from throughout Florida examined the Tax Collector’s processes as related to the following four areas of competency: Innovation & Automation; a Perfect Annual Audit Report; Customer Focus; and Budgeting. Previously, Mr. Brannon earned the Excellence in Financial Operations Award after exhibiting proficiency in these four areas of expertise. However, for the 2016 Legacy Award, Mr. Brannon demonstrated that his office had further enhanced its financial operations.
“The citizens of Columbia County can be satisfied with Ronnie Brannon knowing that he operates his office in an exemplary and award-winning manner,” Larry Hart, President of FTCA, said. “The panelists’ review of his office far exceeded simply reviewing his perfect audit report. Mr. Brannon’s methods for delivering service to the people he serves and consideration of the technological innovations he has developed and put into place were also analyzed.”
Tax Collectors carry out State of Florida work at the local level on behalf of Florida’s citizens including property tax collections and enforcement; drivers’ licenses and motor vehicle services; hunting and fishing licenses; birth certificates, and so much more.
